Explosions in the Sky is a well known post rock band from Texas. They released amazing albums throughout their career, with the first one released at the year 2000. Their first album How strange, innocence was first released on CD by Sad Loud America (That is the only release they have done) and it was not until four years later that it was released on vinyl, by the huge label Temporary Residance Limited. The vinyl release stayed true to the original CD and only got 300 pressings, which made it at the time very desirable and is still very expensive. (Auction at 500euros on discogs). This is not strange considering Explosions released both Those who tell the truth and The Eart is not a cold dead place by then. So, as you might realise, I do not own their first record on vinyl, nor do I own their newest collab record A prince Avalanche, which is a very neat movie soundtrack.
Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Live Forever (2001)
this plane will crash tomorrow
help us stay alive
there ain’t no world but this one
This is a solid, simple release. The prettiest cover you have ever laid your eyes upon and a 180gram black vinyl.
because you are breathing.
Their third album was orgininally released as a gatefold, I got the second press without the gatefold. Taking a quick glance at the cover art you get the feeling of someone quite paniced about the state of the earth. If you read closely (or just the red words if not color blind) you can find the tracklist! All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone (2007)
This is where the releases take a turn for the crazy. This is School’s Out table and trousers level crazy. So inside this brick we find many layers with different stuff inside it. The amount of quality and the fine details makes this release almost to pretty to use. It’s quite the hassle to just take a record out and play, especially since you kinda want to built the house and look at it every time as well. I can’t imagine how expensive this was to make, weirdly enough it’s sold cheaply everywhere. Beware before you enter this abandoned place.
